This issue's Search Engine Optimization tip of the month:

Utilize WebMakerX

SEO has become more important than ever before. RWS is continuously finding ways to enhance the WMX tool for a more hands on approach in editing and enhancing Site SEO. Utilize WMX by editing your Title Tags. You can find this feature in WMX under >SEO > Title Tags.

The Title Tag is the most important on-page factor in optimizing a page for search ranking, as all major search algorithms place more weight on the page title than any other on-page content. All 3 major search engines (Google, Yahoo, and MSN) utilize the title. All major crawlers will use the text of the Title Tag as the text they use for the Link to the site in their search listings. The Title Tag appears in the reverse bar of the user’s browser when they view the web page. It is important that the Title Tag reflect the page’s content and be unique from other titles on the website. Google typically only shows the first 60-65 characters of the title in its listings.

Service is a key component in the automotive industry at this time. Sell your Service Department! Service is often overlooked, due to lack of advertisement. Because of this, RWS has added an “Ask a Technician” advertisement to each of your websites to help drive in business for Service. What can you do? Add Service Specials using the WEBmakerX Tool.

What's new with WebMakerX?

XML Site Maps
WebMakerX now creates an XML Sitemap of every website.  This is the sitemap format that Google prefers to crawl, and the format required if you wish to submit your sitemap to Google for review.  This will improve your site’s search engine optimization (SEO).  These sitemaps are also read by the other major search engines, improving your SEO for all.  You can access the XML Sitemap by clicking on the “Sitemap” link in the footer of each page of your site.

Consumer Interactive Themes
Let the customer be the boss on  your website.  A consumer interactive theme can turn your site into a customer's playground.  Let customers shop while enjoying the consumer interactive experience.  These themes are optimized for a 1024x768 screen resolution and combine brand new looks with cool features for the consumer, like choosing the background image with the 'customize your experience' control.  Additionally, you can use the zoom control to bring that selected vehicle to the forefront.  You can find Consumer Interactive Theme 1 at www.toyotastuart.com or Consumer Interactive Theme 2 at www.pattersontoy.com. 

Just in Case You Missed Them...
Specials Ranking: As part of our effort to improve efficiency for Dealers and Support, we added the ability to enter a rank for a Special while you are adding the record. This makes Specials ranking consistent with our other ranking reflexes. Previously, any newly-created Special became the first in the list and the dealer then had to re-rank the other Specials to accommodate it.

  

 

 

Did You Know???

Validator Errors

Competition is heating up. Be reassured Reynolds is doing their homework! It was brought to our attention that our competitors were using the site http://validator.w3.org/ to give a negative impression on our websites' SEO/SEM implementation. DON’T BE FOOLED! Validation errors are unrelated to website SEO/SEM. Most of the “errors” on dealer websites are caused because we consistently code for cross browser compatibility. A lot of the exception code that we use throws errors with certain browsers. This in no way affects the visible layout or functionality of the site or its ability to be read by search engine spiders. Therefore, SEO ranking is not affected by the “errors” that this validator finds.
